Event Notes

In this two-day workshop, participants will review various aspects of performing arts with Jeremy Watkins, a professional actor and coach. This is for actors who have had some experience, but new actors are welcome too.
On the first day, people will explore their voice and body as tools for expressing themselves on stage, and discover types of personalities through an exercise and the use of physical dimensions on the stage. Finally on Day 1 people will learn some basics of musical theatre and choreography, the goal is to learn how to be a contributing part of an ensemble and practice some singing and dancing to a show tune.

On the second day, we delve into the history and origin of theatre, and learn about the different types of theatre that exist in our communities. We will also work on creating characters using excerpts from various scripts, ranging from comedy to tragedy, and from drama to history. People will apply their skills and knowledge to bring these characters to life, through rehearsing their scenes for a final performance. At the end of the workshop, people will showcase their talents to a small audience, and receive feedback and applause.
